Abstract
Sea level rise is a climate challenge that society will face in the years to come. Despite high awareness of the problem, adaptation measures are still largely missing. Two factors that have been identified that explain the absence of climate adaptation measures are inadequate transfer of knowledge and lack of locally relevant information. With the ambition to improve information access in the urban planning process, we have developed a GIS-based tool that connects available data about flood damage costs, buildings and scenarios for sea level rise to produce an estimate of future flood damage costs. The tool could be used to strengthen the information on which impact assessments in the planning process are based. In the long term it could also contribute to reducing risks in the local community.
