F90 05135 The report presents measurements of passenger car tyres measured in 2003 and 2004. In 2003 preliminary measurements on 6 tyres on 9 different road surfaces were performed. In 2004, the measurements were done in 2 parts:1) 7 car tyres were measured on two test tracks in the Netherlands: ISO-surface and a two layer porous asphalt (2LPA)2) 13 car tyres were measured on two typical road surfaces in Norway: SMA 0/11 and SMA 0/14.The results show that the noise levels on the two SMA-surfaces on average are 7.5 dB(A) higher than on the ISO-surface and 12.5 dB(A) higher than on the 2LPA. On the same surface, there is a difference of 3-5 dB(A) between the quietest and the noisiest tyre. The difference is less on a rough surface (SMA), than on a smooth.
