This paper describes how snow storage information can be used to improve the hydro operation strategy in a newly developed hydrothermal market simulation model. The model was applied to a detailed description of the Nordic system, and simulation results show that the value of knowledge about the snow storage in Norway corresponds to an annual average increase in Norwegian hydropower generation of 440 GWh.
